University of Kelaniya is the one of the government university in Sri Lanka. It was founded in1875 as the Vidyalankara Pirivena , after in 1959 become Vidyalankara Campus and in 1978 become as the University of Kelaniya.

Vision of the university is To become a centre of excellence in creation and dissemination of knowledge for sustainable development.

Mission of the University is To nurture intellectual citizens through creativity and innovation, who contribute to the national development.

Medical center provide medical services to the students with the free of charge. and provide medical reports for student's medical leave.

Library

The library has more than 239,800 collection of books.It opens from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm.

Play Ground

There are three playgrounds in the university.
